Why Getting Your Brakes Inspected for Free Could Save You Thousands

Brakes wear out quickly, especially today when cheaper materials are used to bring the cost of a pair of pads. These cheaper brakes can damage your rotors and require a complete set of new ones if they are worn down. This repair usually costs anywhere from $500 to $1000 or more depending on your make and model. If you just bought a used car a free brake inspection could save you from the expense of this costly repair.

A free brake inspection could save you thousands of dollars in repairs. It's simple, brake pads wear down during braking. Every time you stop your car, friction from the rotos sheers off some of your brake pads. With certain types of cars, and cheaper brake pads this can happen fast.

If you don't get your brakes inspected regularly you could end up ruining your rotors. When brake pads wear down, eventually the metal screws that holds the pads to the brake shoe becomes exposed. The brake rotors are not designed to handle contact from metal parts. Brake shoe clips or screws cut into the rotors and damage them making them unusable and putting your family at risk.

Scored rotors will not function properly because scoring weakens the metal disc and that causes additional friction between the brakes and rotors that eventually warps the entire disc. This causes the car to wobble during braking. That affects the hydraulic system and eventually leads to ruptured brake lines.

Replacing a damaged braking system due to scored rotors costs thousands of dollars on many cars. Fortunately, some extended warranties cover brakes systems, and even brake pads and rotors, completely covering the costs of the repairs.
